My work included researching and developing policy statements for management and administration of the CDT, analyzing project proposals that may affect the CDT and crafting CDTC responses, and building grassroots support for policies and projects that would provide further protection for the trail.I also managed CDTC's communications and community outreach programs. This included overseeing all print, email, and online channels to ensure that CDTC priorities, successes, and needs were communicated to the public; building and maintaining our website; handling press inquiries; managing our Gateway Community program; and working with fellow team members to ensure that CDTC prioritized justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion in its hiring, programmatic work, and internal and external communications.

    As Community Outreach Liaison (June 2016-January 2018), I worked across a variety of programs aimed at broadening the relevancy of the Appalachian Trail. My work ranged from leading stewardship work for underserved youth to supporting Trail to Every Classroom, a professional development program for educators. I planned ATC’s largest ever Family Hiking Day, a trail-wide celebration of National Public Lands Day. This included overhauling our Family Hiking Guide and the Family Hiking Day website; publicizing events via press releases and social media; coordinating and training over 60 volunteers from A.T. Communities, trail clubs, and the NPS; and following up with reporting. In fall of 2017, I developed an impact report on the A.T. Communities program for senior staff and volunteers of the ATC. This report included a full assessment of the program's successes and deficiencies, as well as recommendations for program next steps in order to maximize its benefit to the involved communities and to the protection of the Appalachian Trail. As Office Administrator (January 2016-May 2017), I supported the work of the Southern Regional Office of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy by managing a variety of office tasks ranging from program support to data management to communications. My responsibilities included administering and publicizing A.T. License Plate grant programs, creating and maintaining a database of over 3000 registered thru-hikers, and planning partnership meetings and fundraising events. Most importantly, I supported staff, volunteers, and partners through creative problem solving and responding to requests in a timely manner.
