As the Deputy District Ranger for the Dillon Ranger District - the busiest area of US Forest Service land in the country - I support the District Ranger and share responsibility for providing technical and administrative direction for all management activities on the 300,000 acres we steward. I am responsible for leading staff working in renewable resources, recreation, and visitor information, and work as a member of our Forest Leadership Team to provide direction and support to our staff to ensure forest goals are met.

As the Mountain Sports Administrator, I led planning, guidance, and monitoring for all commercial recreation on the Eagle-Holy Cross Ranger District of the White River National Forest, as well as special recreation areas including the Vail Pass Winter Recreation Area and the Hanging Lake trail. I supervised four year-round GS-9 staff and oversaw the hiring and supervision of 6-12 seasonal staff each year.

I supported Congressman Neguse in advancing legislative solutions to issues including climate change, wildfire, and ecosystem protection. This included researching and drafting legislation, assisting with coordination of the Bipartisan Wildfire Caucus, meeting with constituents and other interested parties about relevant legislation, and garnering support for bills introduced by the Congressman. I also supported the Congressman's work as a member of the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis and as Chair of the Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests, and Public Lands.

I directed CDTC’s communications strategy and worked for greater protection of the Continental Divide Trail through trail management policy and federal legislation.Under the policy umbrella, I worked to develop and refine CDTC's Trail Policy and to build grassroots, stakeholder and political support for the CDT throughout the Rocky Mountain region and beyond. My work included researching and developing policy statements for management and administration of the CDT, analyzing project proposals that may affect the CDT and crafting CDTC responses, and building grassroots support for policies and projects that would provide further protection for the trail.I also managed CDTC's communications and community outreach programs. This included overseeing all print, email, and online channels to ensure that CDTC priorities, successes, and needs were communicated to the public; building and maintaining our website; handling press inquiries; managing our Gateway Community program; and working with fellow team members to ensure that CDTC prioritized justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion in its hiring, programmatic work, and internal and external communications.

As CDTC's Marketing & Communications Specialist, I worked to build a strong and diverse community of volunteers and enthusiasts who support CDTC's work to complete and protect the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (CDT). Through building out our communications program and utilizing social media, email, traditional press, blogs, and more, my goal was to educate the public about the value of the CDT and inspire our existing trail community to further engage with our mission.

Across the Appalachia to Atlantic region, I managed and developed SouthWings' partnerships in order to provide flights to protect the ecosystems and communities of the Southeast. I was responsible for coordinating flights and maintaining relationships with partners in order to provide further support and track the impact of our flight work on environmental campaigns. I also worked to keep our volunteers engaged in our work through informing them of flight outcomes, building relationships between pilots and partners, and various volunteer recognition efforts. By actively participating in several coalitions and through my own research, I engaged with pressing environmental issues in the region in order to lend our support to new partners, particularly those who represent traditionally marginalized communities. I wrote grant applications and reports in order to ensure that SouthWings could continue to provide this critical support to the environmental community.

As Community Outreach Liaison (June 2016-January 2018), I worked across a variety of programs aimed at broadening the relevancy of the Appalachian Trail. My work ranged from leading stewardship work for underserved youth to supporting Trail to Every Classroom, a professional development program for educators. I planned ATC’s largest ever Family Hiking Day, a trail-wide celebration of National Public Lands Day. This included overhauling our Family Hiking Guide and the Family Hiking Day website; publicizing events via press releases and social media; coordinating and training over 60 volunteers from A.T. Communities, trail clubs, and the NPS; and following up with reporting. In fall of 2017, I developed an impact report on the A.T. Communities program for senior staff and volunteers of the ATC. This report included a full assessment of the program's successes and deficiencies, as well as recommendations for program next steps in order to maximize its benefit to the involved communities and to the protection of the Appalachian Trail. As Office Administrator (January 2016-May 2017), I supported the work of the Southern Regional Office of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy by managing a variety of office tasks ranging from program support to data management to communications. My responsibilities included administering and publicizing A.T. License Plate grant programs, creating and maintaining a database of over 3000 registered thru-hikers, and planning partnership meetings and fundraising events. Most importantly, I supported staff, volunteers, and partners through creative problem solving and responding to requests in a timely manner.
