Directed a comprehensive entrepreneurial training and support services program including: strategic planning; board development; public speaking (including providing expert testimony to both Senate and House Committees on Capitol Hill and MD's General Assembly); program design and evaluation; fund development; public and private sector grants and contracts management; public relations; and, financial controls.IMPACT: Increased annual operating budget from $63k to $1.5m. Expanded program from serving 50 clients annually to serving 240 new clients plus up to 1800 graduates each year. Consistently awarded nationally and regionally competitive, multi-year federal and state grants / contracts. Was solicited to assist Jordan and Egypt develop women's business development programs. Received numerous awards and honors, including the Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organization's Standards for Excellence Certification. Launched a social enterprise (international and domestic consulting service) to generate earned income. Over 86% of program graduates launched businesses; 80% business retention rate.

Owned and operated all aspects of a full-service, retail florist / specialty store in Baltimore's premiere retail development / tourist attraction area including financial controls, buying, personnel management, marketing and merchandising functions. IMPACT: Purchased existing business and converted it from a cash and carry flower shop to a full-service business with wire services, delivery network, corporate accounts and comprehensive marketing plan. Significantly increased sales volume and gross profit margin while decreasing administrative overhead to attain greater profitability.
