I’m Associate Professor and I'm involved in both higher education and research. Main research topics are in the field of structural engineering, machine design and mechanical behaviour of materials, with focus on extreme loading conditions. I have direct expertise in testing and modelling components and complex systems made by metals, composites and ceramics and I also collaborate to projects related to monitoring strategies (structural health monitoring) and machine learning. In the research activity my main aim is to solve challenging theoretical and/or applied problems using rigorous scientific approaches and innovative methodologies. I have actively participated to several EU, EDA (European Defence Agency), National, and industrial projects: proposal, research activity, scientific and quality manager, responsible for research unit. I've published more than 140 papers, h-index 22 (source Scopus) in referred international journals and congresses. Since 2019, I’m member of the Editorial Advisory Board of “International Journal of Impact Engineering “.I carry out my research activities in a large research team aimed to advanced engineering approaches for the structural integrity assessment and design of mechanical and aerospace components. I’m the leader of the research line “Structural Integrity Under Extreme Loading conditions” and I coordinate a medium-size research team composed by more than 15 resources (Research fellow, PhD ad Master students).In 2021 I’ve obtained the National Academic Qualification as Full Professor.
