Profile bio

About Aman Khondo

I believe in a fairer world where leaders work for their people, everyone is looked after, and no one has to choose between eating and heating. My name is Aman Khondo, and for most of my working career so far, I've worked to serve the country - be that with police in my local area or with British Army as an Engineering Officer/Leader. My last role involved leading, managing, and orchestrating a workforce of over 80 highly skilled Aircraft Engineers who worked to ensure the Wildcat helicopter was ready for its UK Defence purpose. On top of that, I was also the Head of Communications for the Defence Sikh Network - with a cross organisation team of 5, delivering important internal and external communications to thousands of people across the globe (the peak reaching over 100k people internationally). I'm now building a social enterprise that will use profits to help people whilst still providing services that are required in the world, and I'm also a funding Officer with The National Lottery Community Fund where I'm learning more about the charity sector. The attributes I love sharing about myself are: I put people first. I will always help others succeed where I have struggled. I will eat the discriminating frog. As a visible member of the Sikh faith, I'm more than content to educate others on discriminatory comments, unprofessional remarks, and actions that don't help the organisation. Moral courage is something I pride myself in. My key skills are: Communication - Whether it's senior stakeholders, social media followers, or team members, I take a keen interest in listening, understanding and responding suitably. As an example, using my written communication skills, I was able to achieve a highly sought after promotion for one of my outstanding team members who was competing against dozens of highly experienced people across the organisation. Adaptability - I've been in several different roles (get me on a call and ask!) and I've been able to succeed in all. The reason I didn't stay was because none of them fuelled my need to help others. Achieving - I have an innate need to achieve, I successfully project managed a team to deliver vital pilot training in austere conditions half way across the world and outside of work, having completed plenty of 100 mile bike rides, my current target is an Iron-man distance triathlon.

Listed skills include Microsoft Office, Teamwork, Microsoft Excel, Aerodynamics, and 22 others.

Head Of Communications Of Defence Sikh Network

United Kingdom

As the Head of Communications within a Ministry of Defence diversity network (Defence Sikh Network), my role involves internal and external communications, planning, and execution. When first taking on the role, the fledgling social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) were run intermittently by a single person with limited engagement. The accounts each now have thousands of followers with engagement numbers in the tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands with a voluntary team who's roles are based in different departments of Defence and in diverse sectors. Internally, there were no communication methods and now we have a growing database of MOD Sikhs and allies of Sikhs who continue to receive regular updates on the Defence Sikh Network. By using recruitment skills, communication with various stakeholders, and coaching the team are now self sufficient and are able to regularly communicate internally and externally to a growing audience all over the world.
