As a Co-Lead for the regional EDI working group, I champion the Fund’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in the London, South, and South East Region. Some of my achievements so far include:-Creating and establishing a monthly learning session that focuses on EDI issues to give staff a better understanding of different elements within EDI and how they can support day-to-day work and conversations with different communities. -Leading the Fund’s inaugural attendance at Diwali on the Square, which was a great opportunity to celebrate and connect with diverse communities and cultures in London. -Regularly engaging with and supporting key regional outreach events that aimed to raise awareness and accessibility of our funding programmes for different communities, especially those facing barriers or disadvantages. -Being one of the two key EDI leads for the region, working collaboratively with the other Co-Lead, the Head of Region, and the national EDI team to ensure alignment and consistency of our EDI strategy and practice.

As a funding officer for The National Lottery Community Fund, I oversee and manage grants for a diverse range of community projects in the North and West London area. The role involves: -Managing the assessment and delivery of a multi-million pound programme that supports people and communities to thrive. -Ensuring high standards of grant making and compliance within the Fund’s policies and procedures.-Liaising on a regular basis with key local stakeholders, partners, and networks to build trust and collaboration. -Providing support and guidance to the local charity sector and potential applicants, and creating new connections and opportunities in the area.-Managing a large portfolio of grantholders worth several million pounds, and sharing learning and best practice from their projects. - Supporting wider strategic goals in the local area with a view to supporting a balanced portfolio of funding.

As a Operations manager and sub-department lead I oversee and manage a workforce of over 80 people in Aircraft Engineering maintaining a cutting edge helicopter platform (Wildcat AH).The role involves:-Managing the maintenance of the workforce to meet tight deadlines for the customer. -Ensuring safe systems of practice within the workplace, with secondary responsibilities of health and safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.-Liaising on a daily basis with external and internal agencies to ensure resource schedules are met. -Ensuring Military Aviation Authority policy and guidance is met by the workforce.-Setting the operating intent for the workforce, providing them with clear goals and missions to strive for to meet the customer requirements. -Leading the workforce with key decision making and culture setting to provide a safe, friendly, and proactive working environment.

As the Head of Communications within a Ministry of Defence diversity network (Defence Sikh Network), my role involves internal and external communications, planning, and execution.When first taking on the role, the fledgling social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) were run intermittently by a single person with limited engagement. The accounts each now have thousands of followers with engagement numbers in the tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands with a voluntary team who's roles are based in different departments of Defence and in diverse sectors. Internally, there were no communication methods and now we have a growing database of MOD Sikhs and allies of Sikhs who continue to receive regular updates on the Defence Sikh Network. By using recruitment skills, communication with various stakeholders, and coaching the team are now self sufficient and are able to regularly communicate internally and externally to a growing audience all over the world.
