Oversee the daily operations of the transportation department, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.Manage and optimize routes to ensure on-time deliveries and minimize transportation costs.Supervise and lead a team of drivers, logistics coordinators, and support staff, ensuring high performance and compliance with safety standards.Develop and maintain transportation budgets, track expenses, and implement cost-saving strategies.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation laws, regulations, and safety standards (e.g., DOT regulations).Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., warehouse, inventory) to ensure smooth flow of goods.Maintain relationships with third-party logistics providers, freight carriers, and vendors.Track and analyze transportation metrics (e.g., on-time deliveries, fuel costs, driver performance) to identify areas for improvement.Implement and manage transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics software tools.Prepare and present regular reports on transportation performance to senior management.Resolve transportation-related issues, such as delays, accidents, or other disruptions in service.Negotiate contracts and rates with carriers and third-party service providers.
