Turnaround MS principal brought in to transform 1500 student campus to four innovative small learning communities.

Head of School at the nation's first public charter boarding school.The SEED School serves 350 students in grades 6-12. Over 90% of SEED graduates attend four year colleges and universities.Responsibilities and achievements:-Led development, implementation and oversight of strategic planning across all aspects of the organization to ensure alignment to school-wide vision.-Management, supervision and support of the senior team of school directors-Planning, supervision and coordination across multiple departments (academics, operations, development, enrollment, etc.) in order to manage yearly operating budget of $14.5 million dollars.-Collaborating and partnering with families, organizations and agencies in order to address student support needs and strengthen external support networks-Reporting to Board of Trustees and working closely with board committees to monitor the educational program-Decreased suspension rates by 50% by implementing restorative practices and improving positive behavior intervention systems-Raised over $1 million dollars in grants and giving over tenure

The Kingston High School serves 1900 students in grades 9-12.Responsibilities and achievements:-Management and support of the school leadership team (assistant principals, department chairs, directors)-Collaborated with all stakeholders to develop school wide vision and turnaround plan-Instituted data driven accountability systems and monitoring of student cohorts (groups/individuals) to ensure timely intervention and analysis-Instituted a 9th grade Scholar's Academy that led to "on track" student performance increasing from 65% to 92%-Facilitated school based professional development for leadership and faculty -Led the implementation of a new teacher observation/evaluation system-Improved 4 year graduation rate by 17% and saw dramatic improvements across all student groups-Presented multiple times to local board and worked with local media that helped garner community support and approval for a $112 million dollar capital project to re-design the high school -Established parent community center and expanded local partnerships with colleges, employers and organizations

ACCION Academy seves 250 students in grades 6-8. The school curriculum focuses on community action, social justice and student leadership.Responsibilities and achievements:-Supervised, supported and evaluated all faculty and staff-Collaborated with teachers and administrators to adopt new standards based curriculum across all content areas-Designed and implemented a personalized professional development and performance review plan for all teachers-Introduced new programming in the arts, STEM, student leadership, entrepreneurialism and athletics-Develop annual comprehensive school improvement plan and align to $2.4 million dollar budget-Created an data driven system of accountability and internal review for all stakeholders (students, teachers, and families)-Expanded community-based partnerships from 3 organizations to over 25 -Implemented innovative systems and approaches for special education, ELL programming and school-wide discipline-Achieved "A" status for consecutive years on the NYC Progress Report and consistently received special notice for above district average results for our ELL and special education students-Dramatically decreased teacher turnover(40%-5%), increased student retention (by 20%) and attendance(78%-92%)

Participated in the year-long Aspiring Principals Program. The program consisted of a year long intensive study of instructional leadership in urban school settings. I interned with a model principal for a full academic school year while also participating in weekly courses, workshops and coaching sessions to develop my practice.Responsibilities and achievements;-Reported daily to school principal and co-facilitated daily cabinet meetings with school leadership team-Supervised learning communities by observing teachers, managing student discipline issues and coordinating with support services to ensure responsive intervention-Started a parent/student after-school learning program for ELL families-Worked closely with school leadership team to prepare and participate in a state review and district review process

MS 390 serves approximately 750 students in grades 5-8.Responsibilities and achievements:-Founded the College Prep Academy that served 200 students in grades 6-8 as a small learning community with a specialized curricular program of study (resulted in above average student achievement across all grades)-Served as Social Studies Department Chair for four years-Led professional development workshops on topics such as: data driven instruction, classroom management, instructional technology, social/emotional learning, project based learning and research writing-Created a model classroom for the over aged 8th grade program (8+) that provided intensive intervention in a self contained setting-Facilitated weekly teacher team meetings to align inter-disciplinary planning and problem solve student intervention issues-Worked closely with school administrators to organized community events and establish community based partnerships-Participated in the first Teaching American History cohort in the district
