FUNCTIONAL HEAD FOR OFFSHORE PATROL VESSEL MARINE ENGINEERING. PAN INDIA PROJECT MONITORING OF MARINE REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING FOR SHIPS AND SUBMARINES

Responsibilities included identification and front ending till closure of new project leads for all the business verticals of the group besides conceptualization and execution of branding exercises. These verticals encompassed HT/LT Electrical systems up to 220 KV, Diesel Generating sets up to 3000 KVA, HVAC & Fire Fighting systems, Plumbing and data cabling. These turnkey projects ranged in value from Rupees 3 crores to 100 crores.

• Guarantee Support: As Officer In-charge; Afloat Support Team (AST), coordinated guarantee cover worth US $ 40 million for three latest Indian Navy stealth frigates acquired from Russia. Headed a multidisciplinary team of weapon and marine engineers. Ensured resolution of number of operational limitations under guarantee cover through negotiations with 40 strong Russian guarantee team positioned at Mumbai. Job involved coordination of Hull, Engineering and Weapon system linked guarantee issues between ship staff, OEM representatives from Russia and Naval Headquarters (2005 –2007).• Ship Building/ Ship Acquisition in Russia: As Chief Engineer, headed a team of five Engineers and 70 technicians in Russia for training on ship equipment followed by harbour and sea acceptance trials of the third stealth frigate incorporating latest technology for Indian Navy. Job involved acceptance trials of Ukrainian gas turbines, UK built diesel generators, German RO plants and Russian auxiliary equipment. (2002 – 2005)•

Enterprise wide HR function for 750 Engineering Officers of Navy. Responsibilities included career planning, appointment /selection of officers for shore and ship billets, PG courses in Indian and abroad.; Ship Building in India : As Naval Engineer Overseer at Warship Overseeing Team, carried out project coordination for marine engineering aspects of an Indian built 6000 ton destroyer worth Rs 750 crore at Mazagaon Dock Ltd. Primary responsibility entailed ensuring Naval specifications were followed by the shipyard during ship construction. Job involved one to one interaction with shipyard engineers towards ensuring installation inspection, final inspection, harbour and sea trials of all propulsion, power generation and auxiliary machinery and systems.

(1998 – 1999)• Operations : Carried out ship borne operation and maintenance functions on 24x7 basis on diesel and Gas Turbine propelled warships for total duration of 5 years. This included operation of helicopter carrying destroyer for two years as Sr Engineer Officer and latest Indian Naval stealth frigate for one year post commissioning as Chief Engineer Officer. The newly commissioned ship undertook Indian Navy’s longest maiden voyage of more than 18000 miles immediately after commissioning. It reached it’s home port after 90 day’s voyage covering 12 ports in Europe, Latin America and Africa with all Engineering equipment and systems fully operational.

• Ship Repairs: Two years tenure at the Naval dockyard as Assistant Manager, Diesel Propulsion and Generation System with team strength of 150 industrial workers. The job involved troubleshooting, repairs, overhaul, installation and trials of marine diesel engines used as main propulsion engines and prime movers of power generators fitted on all ships and submarines of Eastern Fleet of Indian Navy
