A passion-led creative and social entrepreneur, Amaranta Wright is founder of the UK's widest reaching Latin media, events and music company, which consists of LatinoLife magazine (print and online) 'LatinoLife in the Park' - the UK's largest Latin Music festival - The LUKAS Awards, concerts, conferences, incubators, artist showcases. LatinoLife also owns Candela Records (the UK's first Urban Latin music label) and runs a talent development programme for UK-based Latin music artists.In 2022 LatinoLife became the first Latina-run organisation to become a National Portfolio Organisation - selected alongside the likes of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal Opera House, Sadler’s Wells and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as one of the UK Government's 'esteemed cultural institutions' recognised for artistic excellence.For 20 years LatinoLife has been developing the Latin Arts industry in the UK, through pioneering institutions. In awarding LatinoLife its prestigious NPO status, the Arts Council concluded: "LatinoLife is an organisation deeply connected with the Latin community, with lived experience and knowledge of the culture. It contributes to making our portfolio more representative of contemporary England in relation to race, sex and socio-economic background. LatinoLife helps the UK Latin community express itself and gain more recognition through the arts, enrich, educate, bring joy to and inspire the wider public and raise the quality and professionalism of UK Latin arts. It helps underrepresented creative people access skills, education, expertise, media, funding, venues in order to forge and advance their professional careers and integrate into UK society." After mentoring young Latin creatives informally for 20 years, ever since it showcased the first UK Latin urban artists at its pioneering club nights at Ministry of Sound in 2005, now its formal Mentoring Programme supports 10 young artists every year.Skilled in Event and Content Management, Editing and Publishing, Digital and Print Media, Amaranta is a strong communications professional. Born in Buenos Aires, she came to the UK at the age of six. From attending her local Haringey comprehensive school, she received an unconditional offer from Oxford University to read Modern History, after which, she returned to Argentina to start her own column on a local newspaper. She went on to become news correspondent for The Sunday Telegraph, San Francisco Chronicle, The Scotsman, and The Toronto Globe and Mail. She was short-listed for The Jane Packenham Journalism award for her work.
