I was named after my great grandpa Alvaro, and I came to the USA when I was a baby from Guerrero, Mexico. I moved elementary schools often and have been in west side Phoenix, AZ since 2009. I went to Brophy College Preparatory, the only Jesuit high school in AZ since 1928, where I led Hermanos Unidos as its president. In college, I was involved with Alianza- The Latinx Student Alliance as a general member, treasurer, and president. We focused on social, cultural, and educational programming for a broad, Latinx community. As a first-generation, low-income student, I graduated with a degree in Latina and Latino Studies from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Currently, I'm a procurement sourcing analyst and form part of the strategic sourcing group within ASU Procurement/Supply Chain. Before this, I also procured innovation in my capacity as the coordinator for the School of Transborder Studies. In the future, I hope to continue serving this great university and its diverse communities as I continue to develop a broad background in public procurement. I'm also a current graduate student at the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College (MLFTC) working on my M.Ed..
