The Pillar Axiom storage system is a complete and integrated storage system supporting both Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Networks (SAN).NAS software runs on a NAS Slammer which is configured with standard network interface instead of FC or iSCSI interface. A NAS Slammer can support NFS and/or CIFS file systems. Both NFS and CIFS can be used to access the same file system. The CIFS (Common Internet Filesystem Protocol) is used in the Microsoft Windows environment across IP networks.
