Senior Field Network Engineer
• Managed a small team of network engineers and our 3rd party cable vendor to provide guidance on what to do when new task came. Provided detail instructions to our cable vendor as to what type of cable was going to be needed and where the terminations needed to be. As for the network engineers I would provide pre-configured equipment for them to go onsite and either install or replace equipment.• Own the project of New Sites, this included walkthroughs to assess the MDF and IDFs and the number of drops needed for the new site. Creating of Front, and Top view drawings and determining what type of router and how many switches were going to be install. Reservation of subnets for the site depending on size. Creating of low-level network diagrams for documentation. Creation of configurations, rack and stack equipment at LAB to test before deployment, going on site and doing the install, testing all systems to make sure everything is working as desired, and finally adding the new site to our monitor tools like NetBrain, Broadcom CA, Airwave, and Netedit.• The County of San Diego went from Cisco to Aruba, on this project I was in charge of re-designing the Access Layer. This included integrating all systems that we had on Cisco to be translated to Aruba. Created proper documentation for the new design, Golden Configuration, testing of equipment, first on site install for a site which had a running network, created proper changed documentation for a live network change, and train network engineers on how to do the physical install, so I can focus on creating all the documentation needed for this project which was an ongoing process.
Field Network Engineer
• In charged of any field related job, this included refreshing routers and switches which were due to being refresh per the County of San Diego policy. Also, break fix replacements of any unexpected issue that might have occur. On site troubleshooting or assisting when connecting new network equipment to the network. Decommission of sites and other equipment. Installation of VTCs (DX80s) and management of such devices through TelePresence Management Suit (TMS). Assisted the System Administrator in any task at any of the two data centers, this included swapping faulty drives, providing remote access to certain equipment, assistance in troubleshooting any issues with servers. • Assisted in the migration of T1’s from one DS3 channel to another by creating all the necessary configuration on the router, and doing the actual changed with ATT core. In addition to this also assisted on moving T1’s to a dedicated circuit creating all the necessary configuration for the local Router and the core Routers.• Help redesign and maintain the high-level drawing for the County of San Diego Network using Visio.
Network Engineer
• Manage the ticket queue through ServiceNow to provided support, troubleshooting and resolution to the end users, IT department and 3rd party. This included solving issues from VLAN change at the access port, WAP issues, WAP provisioning, issuing static IPs (Infoblox), printers, network performance, device tracking, NAC issues through ClearPass, and any issue related to accessing the private network of the county of San Diego.• Use Cisco Prime to implement an ACL change in all 2000+ devices in the network for remote access through the new VPN that got deployed.• Usage of NetBrain to provided network status for tickets, troubleshooting and created customized Qapps to retrieved certain information from devices or to help monitor or troubleshoot certain issues. • Usage of Palo Alto Panorama create logs and to block unwanted URLs which were submitted to us by the security department.
