The Library of Congress program provides fee-based services to Federal Government clients and consists of the Federal Research Division (FRD) and the Global Legal Research Directorate (GLRD). Both divisions provide best in class domestic and international, multilingual, open-source research on a wide variety of topics such as: international law, terrorism, social science, technology and program assessments. The research encompasses up to 140 languages and uses research methodologies that include: data analytics, systematics reviews, literature reviews and assessment of performance metrics.The GLRD has been in existence since 1832 and offers an unparalleled team of multilingual research attorneys - many who were educated in-country and then received LLMs in the U.S.FRD, begun in 1948 in order to support the research needs of the newly formed U.S. Air Forces, has been providing fee-based research services to the IC and DoD for over 70 years. For many years the division worked exclusively for DIA and even conducted cleared research. Today, the division is known for its scholarly, non-partisan perspective. Research and analysis services include: open source, multilingual, domestic and international legal, data analytics and social science.
