We focused on the development innovative chemical reactions, the development of skeletally diverse, small molecule libraries, and the biological evaluation of said libraries in various biological systems. My responsibilities were two-fold: I was heavily involved in the synthesis and biological characterization of our small molecules, developing a class of small molecules called indoloquinolizidines, which were demonstrated to modulate mammalian cell calcium homeostasis. Additionally, I was the safety officer for our laboratory, maintaining much of our instrumentation (e.g., flow cytometer, fluorescent microscopes, etc.), chemical inventory, and ensuring training requirements were met in a timely manner.
