I am a senior lecturer in Economics at Atlantic Technological University (ATU), School of Business. I hold an MA in Economics and a PhD in Economics from University College Dublin (UCD). I was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute for Transport Studies, University of Leeds, UK. I am an Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of International Economics (IIE), University of Valencia, Spain. Prior to joining ATU, I was a research fellow and lecturer in Economics at University of Galway. My research focuses on identifying the socioeconomic and sustainability drivers of mobility and transport decisions across individuals and firms. I study the causes and consequences of the socioeconomic and geographic disparities in transport demand. During my doctoral studies, my research focused on passenger transport preferences and the relationship between land use and transport. Over the years, I have developed experience in the area of freight and maritime transport demand analysis. This involves the application of econometric, spatial modelling techniques, economic evaluation methods, and discrete choice models. I have experience in the development of socioeconomic indicators of sustainability in a transportation context, including mobility and accessibility. In recent years, I have become increasingly interested in the role of technology to advance the low-carbon transition of Irish transport and in particular, the role that blockchain and distributed ledger technologies can play in transport decarbonization. I have published my research across a range of areas including transport, regional science, and marine/maritime economics.
