As a policy and development strategist, I have engaged with both local, national and state governments in helping them review and develop policies, including legally enforceable rules. These included in being innumerous committees that reviewed India's policy on Shifting Cultivation, Financing of Mountain States, CSR policy of Nagaland government, Review of the Arunachal Pradesh forest policy, drafting of the Nagaland State Biodiversity Rule 2011, drafting of the Nagaland Organic Policy, etc. As part of an international civil society initiative, I have also involved in critical review of the UN system and presented the same to the UN HQ in New York

The project had two broad focus areas:1) Social mobilization, organization and capacity building to tap and realize the great latent potential of the communities by employing time tested their traditional value systems and culture; and 2) Intervene with the economic and social activities and infrastructure with predominant thrust on income generating activities to achieve economic transformationThe project initially operates in three states and six districts viz: Assam (Karbi Anglong and North Cachar Hills), Manipur (Ukhrul and Senapati) and Meghalaya (West Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills) and covered 860 villages, reached out to 39,161 households, and established 1012 Natural Resource Management groups (NaRM-Gs) and 3168 Self Help Groups (SHGs) covering a total of 2,35,000 people.The third phase of the project during 2014-22 was implemented in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur covered 1212 villages directly benefitting 58789 households. As a Monitoring consultant for NAtural Resources, we successfully concluded the project ending monitoring mission.

Thailand

The Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) is a regional organization founded in 1992 by indigenous peoples’ movements. AIPP is committed to the cause of promoting and defending indigenous peoples’ rights and human rights and articulating issues of relevance to indigenous peoples. At present, AIPP has 46 members from 14 countries in Asia with 18 indigenous peoples’ national alliances/networks (national formations), 30 local and sub-national organizations. Of this number, 16 are ethnic based organizations, six (6) indigenous women and four (4) are indigenous youth organizations and one (1) organization of indigenous persons with disabilities.As a freelance Consultant, I successfully reviewed and redeveloped their Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning strategy, as well as development of AIPP Strategic Plan. The process also included designing the curriculum for a two-day workshop to help the staff understand the processes and methodologies of the M&E Strategy, and as per their Draft Strategic Plan 2021-2024.

Appointed by the Government of Nagaland in an honorary position to advise the Invest Development Agency of Nagaland (IDAN) on matters related to the potential of attracting CSR funding in the state. Worked with the agency to first of all review all issues relating to compliance for CSR funds, the NGO sectors absorption capabilities, their governance systems etc. Facilitated meetings with CSR Heads and experts so that the agency gets diverse views and opinions on the matter. Helped establish the CSR wing in the agency.

The Central Himalayan Environment Association, CHEA in short, was founded on October 2, 1981 with the Vision to ensure the development of prosperous and secure mountain communities that are peaceful, equitable, and environmentally sustainable. CHEA's Mission is to integrate rural livelihoods and sustainable conservation practices to reduce the environmental, economic, and social vulnerabilities of the mountain people. In cooperation with regional and international partners, and working with the communities, CHEA aims to develop and provide integrated and innovative solutions that guide policy change and inspire action to directly benefit the mountain people and their environments. The Himalayas are the principal home of glaciers and the source of water for over 1 billion people living in connected river basins and are extremely vulnerable to climate change. CHEA therefore believes that there is a critical need to guide development that incorporates and is compatible with the threat of a changing climate.I was an invited Board/Council member to this prestigeous organization in the Himalayan region

Addressed the range of tribal development issues that would require being incorporated and/or addressed in innovative ways in the new programme focusing on the development of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs/PTGs) in Odisha. These include the issues of (i) Tribal empowerment (social, economic, political, financial, etc.); (ii) Functioning of provisions of Fifth Schedule in tribalareas (Fifth Schedule of the Indian Constitution provides protection to the adivasi (tribal)people living in the Scheduled Areas from alienation of their lands and natural resources tonon-tribals); (iii) Strengthening of the functioning of PESA (Panchayati Raj Extension inScheduled Areas Act); (iv) Strengthening of the functioning of FRA; (v) Strengthening of thefunctioning of Social Welfare Schemes of the Govt of India/State Govt and other governmentagencies in programme areas including right to food, education, etc; (vi) Landlessness andindebtedness among the PVTGs/tribals; (vii) Addressing issues of distress migration; (viii)Special focus for youth (capacity/skill development, employment generation, bank-microfinance linkages, etc.). In consultation with the Mission Leader and other mission members, contributed in the Aide Memoire and issues to be addressed in the draft design/formulation document.

Expert Committee Member for the drafting of the Nagaland State Biodiversity Rules. The process of drafting this rule was a completely participatory process involving the participation of each recognized village in Nagaland (including women, youth) and with consultative meetings in all district HQs.

Earlier known as Institute of Rain and Moist Deciduous Forest Research (IRMDER), the Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI) is today a nucleus for research on forestry and ecology related issues of India's north east region. The Institute has evolved into one of repute, delivering yeoman service in the field of forestry resources and technology extension to all NE states including Sikkim. The multidisciplinary scientific manpower of the Institute delivers need based technological achievements in forests science leading towards conservation, protection, restoration and management of forest resources. The tested technologies, developed under different research projects, are transferred to the stakeholders through its Regional Capacity Building Programmes under Demo Village and Van Vigyan Kendras (VVKs) in the states. The headquarters of the Institute is located at Jorhat in Assam, with centers at Aizawl and Agartala.As member of the Research Advisory Group, we reviewed and approved research proposals and research activities under the ICFRE grants managed by the RFRI
