Community Paediatrics Communication And Marketing Support Officer
As a marketing and communications support officer for Birmingham Community Healthcare’s community paediatrics team, my role is to essentially ‘revamp’ the webpage in order to give parents across Birmingham a much needed insight into what our service can provide those who need it. Through research and liaison with lead Doctors, as well as seeping through endless amounts of leaflets and booklets, I have been able to conduct and pull together the most important information that can be used as handouts for parents of newly diagnosed attention deficit hyperactivity disorder children in particular. Being a lone worker on this project has allowed me to use my initiative and really explore different ways of communicating to those of different demographics, as well as talking to the public and conducting surveys to ensure that the information going on the website is what they wish to see. I have also looked at ways of communicating information on the service and the many conditions it deals with to professionals, adolescents and children as well as parents/carers, giving me the opportunity to create posters and leaflets that will help everyone who will need to access the community paediatrics team understand what they do.
Marketing Executive
Shop Assistant
My job involves excellent customer service, serving customers in a polite, timely manner. I deal with money, stock take and clean equipment at the end of each shift; I also help to train new members of staff who join the team.I have excellent communication and listening skills, I am adaptable and flexible as my shift pattern changes on a regular basis.
Volunteer
The project I am part of will essentially help individuals within poor communities have a chance at turning their business ideas into a reality with the help of marketing, planning, and action. Balloon Ventures efforts will eventually allow the growth of businesses, turning them into SME's meaning that the individuals themselves will have a much better life and their companies will help create an economical secure environment within Kisii County and a much more sustainable way of life.My role within the programme is to work as part of a working group to help up to five individuals from Kisii County understand their business in-depth before going onto improving their way of working, their revenue, style of marketing and even their products, to eventually lead them onto having a legitimate style of working as well as a new found passion for their businesses.
Digital Media And Marketing
As a Digital Media Marketer, my role consists of updating and constantly checking both Bournville College and South and City College Birmingham’s social media networks as well as keeping content both current and relevant.I plan posts a month in advance to ensure they are both worthy, engaging and more importantly – attract our target audience. I use my initiative quite a lot when planning, taking into consideration any big, upcoming events that may be taking place, meaning I can not only advertise them, I can organise appropriate coverage around my working day. I am in charge of both writing and editing the college’s joint, bi-monthly magazine, FYi (please see my LinkedIn Publications) and have had articles published in the local lifestyle magazine, ‘Gem’ and have had sponsored articles in the Birmingham Mail. This has not only gave me a great experience, it has allowed me to explore different styles and approaches to writing, essentially giving me a variety of writing skills. For the FYi magazine, I quite often write articles from scratch, including preparing appropriate questions, taking notes, recording and ensuring that my clients are okay for the article to be published. Many staff members send in prewritten articles which need editing, it is my job to extract the important information whilst making it both more readable and quite often, much shorter. As well as the above, I attend many events to not only take photos and get notes for articles, but create live posts to inform those who couldn’t attend and attract a wider audience. The events can be anything from a formal work expedition to the much busier St Patrick’s Day Parade, although very different, I always approach those who I am taking photos of in a professional manner, informing them of where the photo will be published, and more importantly, get them to sign consent forms.
Social Media, Communications Apprentice
My job involves general communications, from sending out 'all staff' emails to over 5000 employees, writing a weekly e-newsletter, interviewing members of staff and writing up articles for Birmingham Community Healthcare's quarterly staff newsletter, ARCHway, taking photographs, updating the Trusts Twitter account 'retweeting' and responding to any 'tweets' we may receive. I also play an important role in our internal social network Yammer, as I took part in the initial research and implementation of the internal social media forum. I deliver training and tutorials to those who may need extra support. I also presented to the Trusts staff governors and directors explaining what the purpose of Yammer is and how to use it.I support staff award ceremonies by accompanying the chief executive giving awards out. Take photographs and look after the reception area meeting a greeting the attendees, as well as chairing the initial shortlisting meeting with the Trust Chairman and governors.I have supported many campaigns by looking at ways to advertise and reach the public in a positive and effective way, I have worked quite closely with national, internal and external 'stoptober' smoking campaign and the all-important flu campaign to help reach the figures provided by the government. The flu campaign involved many meetings, sharing stories and holding 'flu jab' recruitment drives. I have also played an important role in the recruitment campaign we are currently holding by assisting create a 'pay-per-click' campaign on LinkedIn which has proved to be quite successful.I attend Trust information days and often write articles on these and take photos to accompany these. I have even ran my own information stall to showcase what the communication team has achieved as well as the support we can offer.
