Key Result: Developed a series of n-type small molecules for use as electron acceptors in bulk heterojunction organic photovoltaic devices based on the BODIPY dye. Spent six weeks at the University of Bordeaux working with Dr. Guillaume Wantz to fabricate thin film transistors and optimize solar cells; through systemic device optimization, an eight-fold increase in power conversion efficiency was achieved.
