As a ONE Campaign Youth Ambassador, Ben is part of a dedicated team of volunteers who electrify ONE’s campaigns across Europe - he is one of 25 Youth Ambassadors in Ireland. This team lobbies decision-makers, works with the media to raise the profile of campaigns, and encourages the public to sign petitions through online activity and local events. Chosen first as part of the 2017 class of Youth ambassadors and again in 2019. Ben has gained invaluable experience in lobbying, public speaking and campaigning, alongside deepening his understanding of both politics in Ireland and the European Parliament.In 2017, Youth Ambassadors' main goal was to amplify the "Poverty is Sexist" campaign, calling on world leaders to fund education for millions of girls. To date, Ben has been involved in contacting TDs and brainstorming ideas for further campaigning efforts in Ireland. Ben was part of a world meet up of all Youth Ambassadors from across the world that took place in Brussels, Belgium. During this trip, he took part in direct lobbying meetings with Mairead McGuinness MEP and Deirdre Clune MEP. In 2019, Ben took part in online campaigning efforts that saw a majority of European Parliament candidates signing up to the ONE Campaign's ODA pledge, the ONE Vote 2019. To date, 204 current MEP's have signed this pledge.

At ISSU's 2017 Annual Assembly, Ben was elected President of the Union by members from across the country. The Irish Second-level Students’ Union is the national umbrella body for student councils in Ireland. The Union raises the concerns of students and campaigns for better quality of education and access. As President, Ben's role was to guide and manage the work of the Union and its officers, acting as the figure head of the organisation, doing media and holding meetings, all in an attempt to highlight and promote the student voice.

Munster

At the Munster Regional Council of Schools, Ben was elected to represent the region at a national level as a Regional Officer. Building on a day of policy work regarding mental health services in Munster, Ben was tasked with continuing this work through ISSU. He organised Student Council training days with ISSU's 66 member schools in Munster. These events included mental health policy workshops to gather ideas for the improvement of services for the whole community.

Ben founded the Youth Council for Human Rights and Equality to give young people a voice in these areas. YCHRE's mission is to create a society devoid of human rights abuses and inequalities, where all citizens understand the value of human rights, equality, intercultural understanding, development education, freedom and human dignity. At the close of 2016, the Council published "Our Next 100 Years - Proclamation for the Future of Human Rights in Ireland" With so many hopes for many different issues in Ireland, the Council decided to put together a proclamation of these aspirations, touching on housing rights, privacy, Traveller ethnicity and climate issues.' Ireland 2016' have commended the document saying "well done on a brilliant piece" and have placed it in the national records.

Ben was one of 15 selected as the most promising young people in STEM in Ireland for 2015/2016. The Digital Youth Council was the first of its kind in Europe, and aims to give a voice to young people involved in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in Ireland and provide them with a platform to influence the National Digital Strategy, and the future of technology in education. The project has been supported by various Irish Government Departments and companies such as Twitter & RTE Digital.
