Social Worker Case Manager II, Clinical Case Management with the Harris Health System, Ben Taub General Hospital

As a clinical social work intern, I had the unique opportunity to implement the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) Assessment to inform client plan of care. Individual and family therapy sessions fostered the development of individual coping skills, self-awareness, and empowerment.

As a social work intern, I worked closely with the Education and Primary Prevention team at The Bridge. I received training on the dynamics of domestic violence (DV) and sexual assault (SA) and learned how the TAASA Primary Prevention Curriculum aims to address these injustices. My education and training includes completing Case Assessments for non-residential clients, co-facilitating workshops, and assisting with emergency calls to the agency. Certifications: Sexual Assault Training Program (SATP)

Through the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, I served as an Aftercare Coordinator at Angela House. Angela House is a residential and transitional facility for women coming out of incarceration who may face homelessness. The goal of Angela House is to empower women to break the cycle of incarceration and help them successfully reintegrate into society. As the Aftercare Coordinator, I worked closely with graduates and former residents of the agency to maintain support and community. I assisted with any needs expressed by the women, such as securing housing, locating healthcare services, and obtaining employment.
