About Amber Becker
As a parent of a young adult who lives with serious mental illness and an intellectual disability, we understand all too well the barriers that exist in accessing services. For years, I have advocated for greater access to services and family/youth involvement at all levels of decision-making. This lived experience has ignited an advocacy passion that runs deep โ especially for those individuals involved in multiple systems. Living the experience for so many years, of the barriers we faced and are still facing at times, drove me to enter this field; with a dream to assist in creating sustainable solutions. ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐ฐ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, and ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ are infused in all aspects of my career.I work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders in developing initiatives that have a direct impact on youth and families throughout Indiana. I value and respect the voices of lived experience and ensure these voices are uplifted and heard at all levels. Requested to serve on several ad hoc and standing committees which has allowed the opportunity to implement creative ideas, while providing the resources and tools to turn these creative ideas into actionable goals. As a state agency liaison, I advocate for initiatives in the area where substance use and mental health intersect with juvenile justice, education, and child welfare.We have the ability to help create resilient communities, families, and individuals through a trauma-informed lens and a strengths-based approach.
