Served children on the Autism Spectrum, and children with learning disabilities grades 6-8 and High School US History, in a self-contained classroomCollaborated with IEP team teachers to identify mainstreaming and transition goals for students. Supervised 2 paraprofessionals in implementing classroom instruction Provided behavior training to school support staff who worked with students. Wrote and implemented IEPs for each student. Developed lesson plans to encompass 5 grade levels and align with common core standards. Collaborated with Speech and Occupational Therapists to ensure students’ needs were addressed and IEP services were complied with. Implemented use of research-supported strategies for students with Autism including visual strategies, sensory breaks, small group and one-to-one teaching, direct instruction of social skills, token economy, and discrete trial teaching. Used research-supported instruction programs to teach reading and math such as Lindamood-Bell SeeingStars and CloudNine. Attended workshops throughout the school year to expand knowledge of teaching strategies.
