I am a semi-retired Tech Executive, the Author of a book, Agile Discovery & Delivery: A Survival Guide for New Software Engineers & Tech Entrepreneurs and teach the Computer Science Capstone course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Currently, I am taking a break from full-time work to travel, teach, write, coach, and consult. I'm enjoying the break, but if you happen to have an opportunity that you think I might love, feel free to reach out. I'm always open to ideas. I am passionate about lean-agile software development, self-selecting teams, innovation, the environment, and women in technology. I am a Certified SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), SAFe Agilist, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), and Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO). I most recently led the product and engineering teams at Singlewire Software as their Vice President of Software Development where I transitioned them from waterfall to agile, scaled the team to twice its size, more than doubled our revenue, and led our corporate & product strategy teams. In the past, I have led the Operations Team at Capital One's Innovation Lab, the Agile Program Management Office at Opower and drove National Geographic's adoption of agile methodologies. Jesse Huth and I co-founded the agile consultancy, O2 Agility. I have also been a Software Engineer, Team Lead, and Project Manager at IBM, leading a global team of the world's top experts in customizing the Rational Tools Suite. At IBM, I was among the first volunteers selected for the prestigious IBM Corporate Service Corps and volunteered with the African Wildlife Foundation for one month in Arusha, Tanzania. I wrote a complete business plan for an eco-lodge in the Enduimet Wildlife Management Area adjacent to Mt. Kilimanjaro, that would both bring jobs that could lift eight native Masaai communities out of poverty and protect an important wildlife migration corridor between Amboseli and Mt. Kilimanjaro National Parks.I enjoy working on agile technology projects that increase environmental sustainability. I also very much enjoy helping women in tech succeed. I blog at amberrfield.com and am currently located in Madison, WI.
