Installed 1.7 miles fencing in the Corral Canyon OHV area to protect Archeological and wilderness sites vulnerable from the Valley Fire, OHV road maintenance, group campground and trailhead readiness.Forest Protection Officer (FPO): Conducts uniformed patrols on the Descanso Ranger District, both independent and collaborative efforts, with local and federal law enforcement officers to ensure visitor adherence to federal regulations while on the Cleveland National Forest (CNF) including, but not limited to: spark arrestors properly installed, the use of helmets, current registration – and for correct seasonal use, fee compliance, and fire restrictions. Collaborates with other federal agencies and FPOs, as a Security Specialist level 2 to assists with National Forests closures due to wildfires. Assisted in coordinating, planning, and implementing road closures, trail barriers, and posting orders for recent CNF closure that aims to mitigate fire risks and protect the public.Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) Crest Runner: Monitors the first 110 miles of the PCT, section A. Records observations of trail use by collecting hiker data and type of use, permit compliance, preseason/post season site surveys to analyze the expansion and impact of campsite areas. Educate trail users on the importance of ‘Leave No Trace’, safety topics, and water reports. End of season report is reviewed the Regional Office to determine trail-wide management practices.
