As Development Manager I was responsible for a diverse portfolio that included corporate, individual, foundation, and special events fundraising. As the first full time staff member dedicated to development at Y2Y, it was my job to establish and maintain an effective revenue management system. I designed and directed strategies for revenue growth, outreach, and engagement for funders, with particular success in one year tripling the number of individual donors, more than doubling grant revenue, and growing events revenue five times. My work led to an increase in revenue of 55% from FY17 to FY18, and an additional 34% increase from from FY18 to FY19.As Y2Y Network seeks to expand, opening a second shelter in 2020, I was closely involved in designing strategic growth plans with the co-founders and board, particularly as they related to development and communications prior to my departure. To that end, I worked on a Department of Housing grant application that netted $2.5 Million for capital costs, as well as a number of other applications which generated an additional $1 Million.

As the Resource Development Associate I worked on a variety of UWMC projects including presenting at capitol campaigns, forging connections with donors through mediums like LinkedIn, creating and updating materials for donors, and assisting marketing staff with messaging. I also continued my previous work for the Emerging Leaders Society, Community Breakfast, and Life C.Y.C.L.E. Club, as well as provided assistance as necessary for the newly inducted AmeriCorps Volunteer.

From Sep. 2016 through Apr. 2017 I managed the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program with a budget including IRS and Cal EITC (Earned Income Credit) grants, 138 volunteers, 11 partner-hosting sites and 5 key partners recruiting volunteers. During the VITA season we helped over 2,500 low income residents of Monterey County to file their state and federal taxes, resulting in more than $2.5 million in refunds and over $4 million being brought back into the local economy.From Feb. 2017 - Aug. 2017 I worked primarily on the 7th Annual Stuff the Bus campaign as the project manager. Stuff the Bus provides individual, community and corporate sponsors the opportunity to give kids in need the tools they need to succeed. In 2017 my team and I raised over $40,000 and filled 3,335 high quality backpacks with school supplies - a substantial increase over the previous year's 2,800 total backpacks - that were distributed across Monterey County School District to children in need. Throughout my time with UWMC I also worked on additional projects including:a) the first annual Spring Spruce Up - now a series of annual community service projects offering hands on volunteer opportunities for community members.b) the Emerging Leaders Society - a young philanthropists group dedicated to supporting the work of UWMC and engaging young leaders in philanthropy. c) Art from the Inside: A Backpack Redemption - a partnership with the Soledad Correctional Facility whereby incarcerated men created art that was then auctioned with the proceeds purchasing 75 backpacks for the 2017 Stuff the Bus. d) the Community Service Awards and the Community Breakfast - annual UWMC events to recognize outstanding volunteers and highlight the impact of UWMC's work in the community respectively. e) United Ways of California's Capitol Day - annual event where United Ways from across the state meet elected officials to advocate for laws that would positively impact our communities.

I served as the Recruiter for the state of Idaho - a top volunteer producing state per capita - and for the following Universities in Washington State - Seattle Pacific University, Puget Sound University and Pacific Lutheran University - all ranked in the top 25 nationwide for small universities producing Peace Corps Volunteers. As a Regional Recruiter my job included:1. Applicant Prospecting: Recruitment of qualified applicants for service while building awareness of all Peace Corps Programs.2. Management of Campus-Based Recruiters: Maintain and develop relationships with academic stakeholders.3. Marketing and Recruitment Outreach: Present the features and benefits of Peace Corps service, disseminate informational material to a wide-range of groups, resolve candidate's concerns.4. Recruitment Planning and Reporting: Develop semester recruitment plans to effectively utilize resources in reaching target populations. Assist Public Affairs Specialist in planning publicity and arranging media when appropriate.I was particularly successful in creating new partnerships with key stakeholders, expanding Peace Corps programs such as Peace Corps Preps and the Peace Corps Ambassadors at seven schools including three which had never had a Peace Corps Recruiter, and working with the Rotary Clubs in the Seattle and Tacoma Metro regions to recruit experienced volunteers for Peace Corps Response.

I worked with a team of managers on the re-election campaign of Democratic US Senator Mark Udall in the Greater Denver Metro region. Together we were responsible for an office of over 250 individuals and managed recruitment, training, canvassing assignments, transportation, data collection and statistical analysis. I was particularly involved with the recruitment and training of new staff.

Working at a grassroots level, at the request of my village, led to many successful and sustainable projects: We established Scouts programs at 7 elementary schools as a way to teach health topics and life skills, we organized opportunities to test over 3,000 people for HIV/AIDS, community based organizations used my proposal training to write grants for projects benefiting schools and HIV/AIDS support groups, and we were able to establish 30 libraries with over 20,000 books in public schools within the district. I was able to assist AMREF to conduct a baseline survey and begin their program to use Community Health Workers as Home Based Care providers, and then had the opportunity to train alongside these volunteers and facilitate ongoing training. In working for Peace Corps I produced the 5th edition of Peace Corps Kenya's HIV/AIDS manual, the first edition of the country's Proposal Manual and trained newer volunteers as part of their Pre-Service Training, HIV/AIDS Training, and In Service Training. I served the Peace Corps Community on the Volunteer Advisory Council as a liaison between Peace Corps Staff and Volunteers in country. I also worked as the Chair of the Volunteer Grants Review Committee coordinating the assessment and approval of proposals by fellow volunteers. Additionally I acted as a regional security warden to assist volunteers in my region in the case of emergencies and facilitate communication between staff and volunteers.
