Oversee inventory in entire SPD department. Ensure that supplies and instruments are kept at an appropriate level; order supplies when needed.Ensure that record keeping of sterilization processes is appropriate and up to date in order to remain in compliance with Joint Commission requirements and AAMI standards.Serve as an expert in the department related to the overall processes of instrument cleaning/decontamination, instrument tray preparation, sterilization, and OR case cart preparationMentor and serve as a resource to new employees hired into SPD.Continually collaborate with Ortho, Spine, General, Vascular, and ENT Operating Room RN service leaders to ensure that instrument trays and supplies are available, updated, maintained and accessible when needed.Collaborate with surgeons to address requests, concerns and questions related to instrument trays and supplies for their cases.

Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST certified)* Perform instrument cleaning, decontamination, tray assembly and sterilization for the entire hospital: operating room, procedural care center, ED, and ICU.Examine equipment and instruments for leaks, worn/broken/loose parts, or other indication of disrepair.Check sterile supplies to ensure they are stored properly, and package has not been compromised.Prepare case carts for the operating room.Assist operating rooms to provide instruments as needed during surgical procedures.
