In my position as a Chemist in the Mass Spec Center of Expertise group, I identified impurities in agricultural products in progress for registration using a hybrid LC/GC-QTOF. I then proposed chemical formulas and structures to be synthesized. I analyzed them to verify the correct impurity was synthesized. The impurity could then be studied further to determine toxicity and target areas during application. I also analyzed radioactive samples that submitted for a GLP study. All my findings for GLP studies were summarized in a scientific report format.

As a member of the Biodiesel Research team, I used a bomb calorimeter to characterize biodiesel from cooking oil waste and find the best alternative solution. During my junior year, I assisted my professor, Edward Chikwana, in his Instrumental Analysis class to teach other students how to operate chemistry instruments including HPLC, FTIR, NIR, GC/MS, and UV/VIS spectrometer.

At my internship, I became more acquainted with their FT-IR used to verify chemical supplies. I then took lead on a project dealing with returned materials. I was able to make managerial decisions when dealing with the project.
