I work closely with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and various local government units to receive the necessary permits for various projects including stream restoration projects, conservation impoundments, residential developments, utility line installations, wastewater treatment facility expansions, bridge and culvert installations, and more. I also utilize Autodesk Civil 3D and Bluebeam Revu to develop plans for numerous conservation and stream restoration projects and have applied for and received millions of dollars of grant funding for the design and construction of these projects. Jul 2018 - Present

Undergraduate Teaching Assistant

Winona, Mn

This position required me to assist the professor and students during weekly lab periods for the class titled: Earth and Life Through Time. My job duties included answering students' questions and assisting them in completing their lab packets during the weekly lab periods, as well as in 8 additional lab hours throughout the week. I enjoyed sharing my passion for geology with students who were taking this course towards their own geology degrees or as just an elective. I also enjoyed the challenge of motivating students to complete their work and meet deadlines while providing them with constructive criticism.

Jan 2018 - May 2018

Dinosaur Field Paleontology Research

Winona, Mn

I had the wonderful opportunity of participating in a paleontological dinosaur dig outside of the City of Marmarth, North Dakota in Late July of 2017. I helped a team of paleontologists to prospect, excavate, and retrieve many Late Cretaceous fossils from species such as Triceratops, Hadrosaur, and T. rex as well as various species of turtles, alligators, and other small animals. I worked tediously in exceptionally remote areas to collect, analyze, and identify fossil fragments in multiple microsites. I also recorded daily detailed observations in field notes and later organized my findings into a professional poster which I presented at the Ramaley Research Celebration and Earth Talks seminar, both of which were hosted at Winona Stated University in May of 2018.My research was focused on determining paleoenvironments by evaluating the species that inhabited the area from the fossils found there and by inferring the taphonomic processes that occurred during burial. I also analyzed the geology of the area, which provided clues about the sediment deposited there, and, therefore, the type of environment it was deposited in.

Jul 2017 - May 2018

Geoscience Department Grader

Winona, Mn

My duties for this position included assessing daily classwork for multiple courses that the geoscience faculty were teaching and presenting students with valuable feedback. I provided the geoscience faculty with regular and flexible hours and completed my work in sufficient time. I also brought any concerns I had to the faculty, such as common misconceptions their students may be having.

Aug 2017 - Dec 2017

Undergraduate Teaching Assistant

Winona, Mn

As an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for the class, Paleontology and Dinosaurs with Lab, I aided the professor and students during weekly lab periods, guided the students through their lab exercises, and scored daily classwork, homework, and exams. Having also attended an authentic dinosaur dig the summer prior to assisting in this course, I was able to share my experiences and passion for paleontology with the students.
