My role involved an array of duties, including; providing full administrative and secretarial support to the company director, office manager and other staff, dealing with enquiries through calls and emails, booking and registering candidates for training, invoicing, raising purchase orders, cash handling, confidential information handling, producing certificates, maintenance of files and records for visitor health and safety, and covid safety records, ensuring the office is organised and tidy, sending and organising postage, photography, digital design (advertisement posters, ID cards), tracking calibration systems, and assisting with quality control.

I volunteered for two weeks as a researcher for Wildlife Sense, who research and protect Kefalonia's loggerhead turtles while spreading conservation awareness. Responsibilities:• Beach Surveys – Recording site measurements, GPS coordinates, and light pollution.• Nest Survey – Counting and assisting hatchlings to the sea.• Harbour Surveys – Recording harbour adult turtle behaviours and interactions. • Shift Leader – Preparing and leading other volunteers during the aforementioned surveys.• Public Interaction – Answering questions and explaining the mission of Wildlife Sense conservation.

South Africa

Undertook a 2-week work experience as a science assistant in Dinokeng Game Reserve in South Africa. Operation Wallacea was paired with Wildlife & Ecological Investments and Panthera. Our team put out camera traps around the reserve and identified all the species on the photos. I also participated in bird point counts to provide a diversity and population of the bird species. Habitat assessment which included identified and measured all vegetation within a 25-metre transect to monitor the impacts of elephant and ungulate activity. Another ecological survey was game transects, which was conducted by driving around different parts of the reserve to get population distributions by identifying the species, how many there are, the GPS location, and the distance from the car.

I have always had a keen interest in wolves and was fortunate enough to participate in a two-week work experience at Wolf Conservation Trust in Reading. Throughout this experience, I worked closely with the wolves, watched the wolf’s individual behaviour and learnt how they interact. I also learnt a lot about their conservation and what action was being taken for these magnificent creatures. This experience was with other students, and so I gained valuable teamwork skills. Additionally, the trust held a weekly open day to the public to raise funds for the conservation projects. During these, I gained confidence in communicating and engaging with the public. My other jobs involved, preparing food and feeding the wolves and small mammals, cleaning the facilities on site, assisting wolf walks, ensuring visitor safety, and cleaning small animal enclosures.
