As the geology intern working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, I was exposed to a variety of projects and got a lot of hands on experience. Traveling on all over the state of Missouri, I was able to not only conduct field tests/sampling (including RQD, Atterberg, Qu, and moisture samples) and record bore logs, but also, with my Geological Engineering background, I was able to help with some of the geotechnical reports writing and analysis in the office. More specifically, as the intern, I: conducted Single Penetration Test (SPT) and Shelby Tube field sampling for a variety of projects (ex: bridge, sign trusses, maintenance sheds), assisted in writing geotechnical reports within scheduled deadlines for bridge division and consultants, conducted Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) and Electrical Resistivity (ER), conducted safe and complete geotechnical field investigations, including organized boring logs, and showed adaptability and flexibility analyzing projects and accommodating consultant requests.
