My name is Amber Mauger and I am currently a Senior at Penn State University. I am dual majoring in Political Science B.S as well as Economics B.S. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.61. While at Penn State, I have taken a course in Stata and R to learn data processing and analyzing. In addition, I have taken classes in micro and macro economics, as well as econometrics. From September of 2022 to May of 2023 I interned remotely through Virtual Students Federal Services. I worked with members of USAID's Office of Transitions Initiatives team to reconstruct their database, make it more user-friendly, and present to the staff potential updates. This internship allowed me to apply my analytical, creative, and organizational skills but also taught me adaptability, data entry, management, marketing, and so much more. I have a lot of work experience such as working at Joann's craft store, helping an accounting firm with processing tax returns, and working as a full-time summer custodian and part-time substitute for a local high school. All of these experiences have helped me develop communication and problem-solving skills, and opportunities to earn roles where I could display leadership and lead an efficient and high morale work environment.On campus, I am involved with multiple different groups such as Trilogy, a THON Organization, and Gamma Sigma Sigma, a national Service Sorority. THON is a student-run philanthropy committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. Trilogy is solely an organization that was built to raise money for THON and support THON families. Since joining Trilogy I have learned how to be selfless and devoted to a cause that brings so much joy to families in need. Similarly, I am also involved in a National Service Sorority for these reasons. Being a part of a group that is devoted to helping the community both on and off campus teaches me the importance of helping others. Outside of school, however, I enjoy hiking, sports, traveling, and volunteering. Volunteering has been a big part of my life from food drives, toy drives, trash pick-ups, and the Appalachian Service Project (ASP) where I went to West Virginia and helped families in impoverished areas rebuild their homes. I am grateful I get to continue volunteering at Penn State since it is always the most rewarding moment of my life.
