"If you are going to be passionate about something, be passionate about learning." I have devoted my education and employment to the agricultural industry, always keeping this motto in mind. I am originally from Milbank, SD, a rural community located in northeastern South Dakota. Even though I was not raised on a farm myself, I always had an interest in agriculture and decided to devote my college education to learning more about the agricultural industry. I graduated from Milbank High School in 2004, then attended South Dakota State University. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 2009, and minored in Spanish and Chemistry. In Spring 2014 I completed my Master of Science in Veterinary Preventive Medicine.Being employed as a research assistant during my undergraduate education sparked my interest in food animal research, especially in swine research. After graduation, I decided I wanted to further my education in swine research, and decided to work toward a Master of Science degree. My graduate research has allowed me to travel across the country to take samples in swine processing plants. I also had the opportunity to present my research at the SafePork conference in Portland, Maine, and the Leman conference in St. Paul, Minnesota. Currently employed as a Quality Assurance Administrator at Devenish Nutrition, I am excited for opportunities to grow and advance as I progress through my professional career.
