As a Field Organizer, I worked between clients and contractors to make Baltimore homes more energy efficient, comfortable and healthy. I canvassed, attended neighborhood meetings and tabled at various events to connect with homeowners then act as their advocate as they went from being interested to having an energy assessment performed to receiving a proposal from the contractor. I then assisted in explaining the contractor's recommendations and helping the homeowner decide what was right for their homes and budgets. I'm also excited that Retrofit Baltimore has launched it's first solar cooperative to help homeowners leverage collective buying power to make solar panels for their homes more affordable.

As the Executive Assistant reporting both to the President and CEO of Campaign Consultation, I managed their daily calendars, travel arrangements, project research, and coordinated events. In addition, I was part of an administration team that ensured the office ran smoothly with phone, internet connection, office supplies, kitchen supplies and janitorial services. As my employers were a married team with multiple ventures, I also orchestrated their property management company (renting apartments, dealing with pest control and maintenance). I also did background research to support their interest in forming a non-profit and piloted the first client for a guided research service for philanthropers.

As secretary, I operated within a Quality of Life plan to establish PRG as a neighborhood based cooperative grocery store to improve health outcomes in Southeast Indianapolis; worked to enhance community economic development through partnerships with local businesses; and planned events and presentations to community groups to develop community buy-in and enhance understanding.

As an Americorps Public Ally, I was placed at a local non-profit while taking leadership courses and participating in a team service project. My placement was with the Indianapolis Coalition for Neighborhood Development and I served as their sole staffer. For ICND, I coordinated Housing Trust Fund money dispersal, sent an RFP for our website re-development and contracted Greg Albright Designs for services. To create a comprehensive and useful member intranet, I compiled resources and ICND materials for them to download and reference. The Public Allies leadership trainings have put more 'tools' in my community building toolkit. Public Allies have 5 core values: Integrity, Diversity/Inclusion, Collaboration, Continuous Learning, and Focus on Assets. The concept of Asset Based Community Development is highly encouraged in order to truly appreciate what a neighborhood has and support those assets to the point where they compensate for or fix what's going 'wrong'. For my Team Service Project I was part of a group that worked with Garden on the Go, a mobile produce truck. This is an IU Health initiative to combat diabetes, obesity, and other diet-related community heath issues. As a team, we reached out to the neighborhoods around the truck's stops to spread word of the program and the importance of eating healthy.

As a Food and Consumer Safety Inspector, I went to area restaurants, bars, groceries and convenience stores to ensure compliance with safe food handling practices.

An innovative program that empowers and challenges leaders in the sustainability field to work within a sustainability framework called The Natural Step. www.naturalstep.org My thesis was a three person collaborative effort entitled Social Dimension of Sustainable Development: Guidance and Application.

I was elected Vice-Chair of the Chequamegon Bay Alliance for Sustainability (AFS.) The Alliance is a non-profit organization working to bring sustainability issues and opportunities to the communities around the Chequamegon Bay of Lake Superior. As Vice-Chair I drafted guiding policies for the differing positions within the organization, as there had been no firm roles set forth in the by-laws. I also served as secretary for the committee to implement the Sustainable Chequamegon Initiative Strategic Plan, a working document to move the region towards sustainability.

The Evening Degree Program at Northland was set up to recruit and attend to the needs of the adult evening student. As Program Assistant, it was my duty to manage any projects the Director was unable to attend to. In this capacity, I prepared briefs for the Director by researching background information and reviewing documents in order to aide in strategic decision-making. In addition to this, I was also responsible for the redesign and upkeep of the program's webpage.
