I am a multidisciplinary scientist who wants to use nuclear physics skills to addresschallenging problems that arise in harsh environments. I have a background in radiation as it pertains to fusion, fission, and space.I currently use a combination of MCNP, GEANT4, and OpenMC to understand radiation environments of large-scale existing and future fusion facilities as well as diagnostic systems. Radiation from pulsed power, tokamak, and inertial fusion systems are analyzed for their dose to the surrounding area as well as their effects on diagnostics.I have extensive experience with nuclear reactor physics (licensed by the NRC) and radiation detection/measurement which improved the quality of the nuclear data used in national security applications by developing new high-precision measurement techniques which took advantage of state-of-the-art facilities across the nation.I have also explored space radiation as it effects surface materials on satellites (paints, coatings, solar cell coverglass) by modelling (Integrated Tiger Series radiation transport code) the material in various orbits to understand the radiation environment, analyzing its impacts on specific materials for mission durations, and applying the specified dose to experimental samples in vacuum vessels with simulated VUV/UV, low energy electrons and protons.
