Amber Koonce is a civil rights attorney committed to promoting access to economic opportunity. As LDF's Lead Counsel for Community Development Financial Institution advocacy, Amber advises mission-driven financial institutions, venture capitalists, philanthropists, corporations, and employers on equity initiatives and programs, including Title VI, Title VII, and Section 1981 compliance. In this role, she also co-authored LDF's Economic Justice Guidance for Businesses and Funders: https://www.naacpldf.org/wp-content/uploads/2024-02-01-Aff-Axn-Economic-Guidance-2.pdf.Amber has also negotiated an employment settlement agreement on behalf of Nikole Hannah-Jones for a tenure dispute with UNC, and co-authored amicus briefs defending NASDAQ's corporate board diversity disclosure rule and UNC's race-conscious admissions policy. Amber regularly presents to organizations on how to increase access to economic opportunity, including the Black Limited Partners Association, African American Alliance of CDFI CEOs, Hope Policy Institute, and Open to All.
