PhD in Applied Sport & Human Performance Psychology. The power of the mind is an often untapped resource in human potential, and by leveraging what we know about the brain, we can intentionally train coaches, athletes, business people, and performers in any domain to optimize mental performance. From the LockerRoom to the BoardRoom, I work with individuals, teams, and organizations to understand and leverage the power of Mindset and Leadership to unleash performance excellence. These two elements can be applied at the individual and the system level to ensure alignment of people, purpose, and processes to achieve sustainable results.I strongly believe we can teach athletes, coaches, and business leaders to learn how to win - physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally - both on and off their respective fields of competition. This results in a better understanding of "self" outside of their role in sport or business, and subsequently enables them to perform better both during and within their career, and after and beyond their career. In ultra competitive environments where individuals are stretched in every aspect of their lives, a strong Mindset can serve as the competitive advantage in sport, business, and in life. Just as we condition our bodies for peak performance, we can condition our minds to achieve greatness. When we unite the power of our mind and our body, we can achieve consistent performance excellence. As a member of the John Maxwell Team, I also facilitate small group leadership sessions with teams, both in the athletic space and the business space, and am available for speaking engagements to teams and businesses.

Founder, Performance ConsultantSelking Performance Group Sep 2012 - PresentSouth Bend, In, Us"Building Championship Mindsets."The Selking Performance Group emphasizes the power of Mindset and Leadership to drive lasting change in individual lives, athletic teams, businesses, and organizations. A general systems approach highlights our belief that everything within one’s life, team, or organization is connected, and thus should be considered when seeking sustainable results.Dr. Selking serves as the Mental Performance consultant for Head Coach Brian Kelly and the Notre Dame Football team, hosts a weekly podcast entitled "Building Championship Mindsets. | the Podcast.," and is a keynote speaker for teams and business organizations across the country. When cutting edge teams or organizations seek the very best in terms of high-performance, we have found that a top-down, bottom-up, and culturally-relevant approach is the most effective in achieving results. Such an approach requires top-down leadership buy-in to mold the overall culture, system, and processes that help facilitate high performance; bottom-up Mindset and Leadership training of individuals within that system, which equips them to deliver their best on a more consistent basis; and culturally-relevant materials, language, and applications that resonate deeply with where the individual or team is, and where they want to go. -

Sport & Performance Psychology, Graduate StudentUniversity Of Denver Jul 2012 - Jun 2014Denver, Colorado, UsThe field of sport and performance psychology is concerned with the psychological factors that influence human performance.Sport & Performance Psychology is primarily focused on teaching people mental and emotional skills to perform at their best more consistently and when it matters most. This includes helping people understand the commitment, confidence, courage, motivation, and choices necessary to develop their capabilities.Although the field is most widely known simply as ‘sport psychology’ this title is a misnomer. Athletes and sporting environments are a key target for SPP, but the skills and abilities we teach are applicable to any performance situation. Thus, we teach Sport & Performance Psychology and work not only with athletes, but also performing artists, musicians, military personnel, doctors, surgeons, lawyers, business people, and anyone else interested in learning to perform optimally. Mental Conditioning CoachImg Academy Jun 2013 - 2014Bradenton, Fl, UsSpent the summers of 2013 & 2014 as part of the Mental Conditioning team, coaching over 8,000 athletes each summer on understanding and using mental strategies for performance excellence. Mental Conditioning is the process of building the mental skills that help athletes reach their goals and compete at their best on any given day, in any given situation. Our mission is to simply ‘optimize mental performance through education, support and application’.Education: To help train the basic tools and techniques for effective mental performance.Support: Help athletes develop a personalized and appropriate profile for their sport and performance needs.Application: To transfer mental conditioning into the competitive arena of life and sport.Every athlete, no matter the age or level needs a strong connection between the mind and the body. Too often athletes neglect training their mental skills and yet in the heat of competition and in life itself athletes make mental errors that ultimately influence the outcome of competition and success in life.As a mental conditioning coach at IMG Academy, I help our student-athletes address the need to manage awareness, energy, thoughts, relationships and the ability to not just ‘say’, but ‘do’!(http://www.imgacademy.com/sports/mental-conditioning) -
