I'm an experienced communicator. For seven years, I was assigned to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety divisions of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and Minnesota Emergency Communication Networks. In this role, I actively developed compelling stories to achieve communication strategies during emergencies and disasters. Incidents I've worked on include: the Coronavirus pandemic, disruptions to the state's 911 system, protests and civil unrest, and severe weather events such as blizzards, tornadoes or flash flooding. In January 2023, I transitioned my assignment to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety divisions of State Fire Marshal and Office of Justice Programs. In this role, I helped publicly launch the work of the first-in-the-nation Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR) Office. This included advising leaders and contractors on a logo design, creating a dedicated webpage, deploying the special license plate aimed at supporting MMIR work. As State Fire Marshal PIO, I led communications efforts during the February 2024 Lutsen Lodge fire. COVID-19 vaccinated and capable of working remotely, in the office or in a hybrid fashion.
