I have always wanted to help people, in particular families and children. I am inspired by the field of public health to understand the causes of disease and illness and to provide widespread protection with systemic change. My doctoral research was on radon. Radon is a fascinating topic because it is a widespread environmental exposure with a solution available to dramatically reduce exposure, yet knowledge, awareness, and action is not saturated throughout our country. There is great room for growth with protective policies and various kinds of support to protect families of both low and high incomes. In my career, I would like use my educational background and skills to work toward creating protective and sustainable changes to improve the everyday life and health of families.
