Department of Exploratory Studies & Academic Progress• Coordinate the University’s individual and group tutoring services by recruiting, training, andhiring a staff of undergraduate peer tutors; publicizing the Tutorial Services Program using theHandshake app; supervising and training graduate and/or undergraduate assistants; preparingregular reports; and, communicating with all relevant campus constituencies• Administer the University’s Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program by forminginterdepartmental arrangements for group tutoring, hiring, and training SI instruction leaders, andscheduling SI sessions• Teach one section of FYRST Seminar in the fall and spring semesters• Coordinate the Majors & Minors Exposition Fair each fall term• Provide developmental support/academic advisement services to a large caseload of exploratorystudents in collaboration with the Office of Career Education and Development and other departments on campus• Serve on the new student registration team for incoming first-year students to schedule students• Serve on the team to improve student progression and participate in strategic actions andoutreach• Seek out professional development opportunities at a national level to stay current on the bestpractices in the field related to improving academic advisement, first-year seminar programming,advising exploratory students, improving student progression, etc.

Office for Inclusive Excellence•Oversaw the Jump Start Transition Program, which is a first-year transition program consisting of 100 students•Supervised a graduate assistant and 55 peer mentors who assist first-year students with their academic and social transition throughout the academic year•Recruited, hired and trained peer mentors on topics related to the first year transition, such as overcoming homesickness, issues on mental health, time management, etc., in order to assist their mentees during the year•Researched challenges of first generation students in order to implement new programs and workshops•Implemented a Sophomore Success Program which supports second-year students as they discover their career and academic goals•Applied intervention strategies and practices to positively increase student retention and success when meeting with students one-on-one and in group settings•Utilized program planning skills to organize the Multicultural Graduation Celebration ceremonies, Fall and Spring, which celebrates underrepresented minority students‘ accomplishments and future plans

Office of Student Leadership & Engagement•Supervised 3 programming interns through weekly meetings to plan out activities for the month•Created 4 programming events each month that caters to holistic student development•Spearheaded all hiring and training sessions for new student staff members, including student workers, student interns, and Orientation leaders•Assisted with Orientation Leader Training and New Student Orientation Week by co-supervising 25 orientation leaders and supporting them as they meet with new students and families •Served as the Logistics Coordinator for Guilford Day of Service which has over 400 participants•Coordinated the Blood Drive event hosted each semester by collaborating with student clubs•Organized the annual Leadership Expo, a leadership recruitment event, by collaborating with various department heads

Career Development Center•Provided career advising on major exploration, job search, and graduate school preparation to traditional, adult, and Early College (high school) students •Assisted students in the job search process by helping to create professional resumes, sharpen interviewing skills, and develop effective job search strategies•Implemented and Supervised the Peer Career Program that consisted of 4 Peer Career Advisers who assisted traditional students on professional documents (resumes and cover lettters)•Presented to classes and other small students groups on behalf of the Career Development Center

•Facilitated access to college and post-secondary educational attainment for low-income, underrepresented, minority, first-generation college students in Danville-Pittsylvania County •Encouraged and advised students to do well in their courses, select colleges that are a good fit, and realize and achieve their goals and dreams after high school•Planned and implemented events and programs (i.e., college application assistance, resume writing workshops, financial aid nights, FAFSA assistance) for students and their families•Assisted students with SAT and ACT registration and preparation
