Earning my Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction stems from my experiences in the US Marine Corps. As a Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCIOC), I managed inventory operations: maintenance and deployment of communication equipment and supplies. I trained employees, from new employee orientation to process improvements and policies. I realized I had a talent for helping people and organizations improve. It is rewarding to watch people develop their comprehension of training material; their confidences soar and productivity increases.After proudly serving in the USMC, I started my college journey. First, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in physics and mathematics as I’ve always been mathematically minded and love science. Then my Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction as I’m highly skilled in seeing the big picture, gaps in operations, and process improvement opportunities to design curriculum and deliver training, which optimizes development of employees. While earning my Master’s degree, I opted to student teach and gained experience teaching math to high school students. I enjoyed helping young adults learn math and strengthened my curriculum and instruction skills. However, I realized that helping adult learners, managing training programs, performing HR activities, overseeing projects, and being a trusted partner to managers and executives are my career focus and path forward.AREAS I EXCEL IN:➤ CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION DESIGN — Working in diverse cultures and fast-paced organizations, I know the learning and development of employees require various strategies and is critical for people and companies to be successful. Therefore, I structure training strategies and materials to apply what’s being learned to real-world situations, strengthening one’s focus and determination to learn. ➤ PROGRAM & PROJECT MANAGEMENT — My experience includes managing training programs and concurrent projects from creation to completion. I have improved programs and led cross-functional teams to achieve mission goals while meeting project specifications, budgets, and deadlines.➤ HUMAN RESOURCES — I celebrate the uniqueness of people and am committed to supporting employees and companies reach their goals. Performing and leading human resources (HR) functions, such as planning, training, new employee orientation, creation/implementation of policies and procedures, management of confidential employee records, and employee performance evaluations, influenced my decision to study curriculum and instruction.
