Clinical students supported interdisciplinary teams brought together by Penn State’s Humanitarian Engineering and Social Entrepreneurship program (HESE), to develop, design, and implement humanitarian projects in the developing world. Additionally, Clinical students evaluated potential legal obstacles to implementation of innovations, advising stakeholders, and facilitating solutions. Drafted EULAs and sales agreements for clients.

Conducted legal research and composed inter-office memorandums on various areas of law for six in-house attorneys. Area of law included: Contracts, Employment law, Family law, Pennsylvania Wiretap Act, Cyber Security, and Ethic and Compliance.

• Reduced the need to outsource work to outside counsel by assuming the responsibility of reviewing terms and conditions of contracts, drafting contract provision revisions and summaries, and drafting lease provision revisions and summaries.• Created internal ADA compliance checklist to be implemented in the OB marketing, tech, and graphic design departments to avoid litigation.• Decreased brand dilution by registering OB as a DMCA agent, developing a DMCA policy for website, and initiating DMCA takedowns on marketplace platforms. • Established an automated copyright registration and management system for OB that improved the company’s ability to protect its intellectual property.• Reviewed terms and conditions of OB’s sweepstakes and contest, reviewed list of potential domain squatters, learned the process of filing for a UDRP (Uniform- Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy) although company did not engage in any action during internship.

Accomplishments:• Analysed data sets from 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 CSR questionnaires to draft the 2018 AAFA CSR Benchmarking Survey utilized by AAFA member companies to gauge how the company’s CSR programs compare to the rest of the apparel and footwear industry so the company can better address the important issue of corporate social responsibility.• Designed a matrix on proposed or enacted microfiber legislation in California, New York and Connecticut to support lobbying and advocacy efforts at AAFA. • Drafted memorandum related to court decisions on Amazon’s liability as a marketplace actor

Accomplishments:• Designated Editor-in-Chief of the California Lawyers for the Arts: Sacramento Office newsletter, a publication use by the Sacramento artistic and creative legal community.• Efficiently completed client intake forms, assisted in case development, provided conflict negotiation consultation, and referred clients to appropriate legal resources and/or attorneys, resulting in client and employer satisfaction. • Reduced case load on court docket by explaining to clients various alternatives to litigation provided by CLA including, but not limited to: Arts Arbitration & Mediation Services (AAMS) and Sacramento Mediation Center (SMC).• Participated as an observer in Court-Based Civil Harassment Mediation. Participated in a modified mediation training.
