As Manager Internal Communications my goal was to assure every employee within our department was both well informed and engaged. As for the informative part, I’ve set-up a weekly newsletter providing the employees an overview of all that was happening within our organization. In collaboration with the process and project managers, I’ve established a Governance document which functions as the basis for the roles & responsibilities and the way-of-working within the department. Furthermore, I redesigned the internal webpage to assure correct storage and findability of information. As for the engagement, I also used my weekly newsletter for more informal updates and connection. I organized several online and (the moment we were allowed) real life events, including a Vitality Month. I kept the KYColleague column alive, as it was bringing plenty of joy. Finally, I simply offered a listening ear to whoever needed it. After several months I became the secretary of both the Management Team (MT) of our department and the Management Team of the entire KYC Chain. Via this manner I could easily stay aware of changes and hot topics within the chain and further facilitate a smooth communication flow, both top-down and bottom-up.

For my second ORMIT assignment I became part of the Change & Data team within the Know Your Customer (KYC) Centre of Rabobank Wholesale. The Change & Data team supports over 100 analysts that accomplish the Customer Due Diligence (CDD) to guarantee integrity within the financial market. My function within Rabobank was twofold; on the one hand I was maintaining our regional network for the Global Client Onboarding tool (GCOB). In this role I functioned as a linking-pin between the IT team, the KYC analysts and the content- and process experts. Hereby, I focused on filtering and prioritizing issues and requests plus the communication among the different parties. On the other hand, I was responsible for the on-boarding and training program of the new KYC analysts. In this role, my main goal was to facilitate a smooth career start at Rabobank that was experienced as both informative and fun. As I experienced the department to be very focused on Know Your Customer, I found it would be time for a bit more of Knowing Your Colleagues. Therefore, I decided to set-up a KYColleague column. For this column, I was interviewing Rabobank employees which – on their turn – could nominate the next interviewee. The column brought more connection and a lot of laughter among our department, shortly said: great success! :) Because of my affinity with writing and communication, in the last months of my assignment I decided to research the internal communication and, based on the results, provide the department with a communication plan for 2021. I got both excited and caught-up in the process, ending-up with me becoming the new Internal Communication Manager for our department.

Well, I can assure you: it’s been one hell of a ride. From getting to know many amazing people, seeing different corporate environments and finding-out that I’ve been carrying around some well-hidden skills over the past 25 years to stressed-out days, sleepless nights and many intervision sessions ending-up in tears… But hey, that’s the beauty in ORMIT and its people: they push you when you deserve it, they catch you when you need it.The ORMIT management sometimes says: ‘’𝘞𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘢 𝘮𝘪𝘥𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘨𝘦’’. Well, I definitely had mine. Wouldn’t miss it for the world! :)

As my first ORMIT assignment was about to start, I was doing some mental prep for a fast and formal environment. Softly said, I was quite surprised when I got placed at a charity organization. Stichting IMC Weekendschool provides those children who need it most with the skills, knowledge and audacity to find their place in society, believing that every child has the right to equal opportunities in live. Where I started my assignment a bit suspicious, it turned-out the Weekendschool and I were a perfect match. Within a couple of weeks I fell in love with the warm-hearted employees, the amazing cause and the always cozy vibe in the office. Lucky me, the love was mutual. Not only because I became the ‘Queen of Data Imports’ (shout-out to IT Consultants VIONQ who taught me well ;) but also because of my full involvement in the ''𝘐𝘔𝘊 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵''. For this project, I focused on mapping the current and desired situation for IMC’s HR, fundraising and financial processes. With the rest of the project team we’ve set-up the newly developed processes in AFAS Profit and facilitated the actual switch to the system. If there is one thing that comes with change, it’s resistance. To overcome this resistance, the project team gave me full freedom to set-up creative and engaging communication, guidance and training to assure support among the organization.
