In my current role from 2018 at Safeway Concessions, Macquarie’s largest Asian investment and toll roads platform with enterprise value of US$2b+, I have tried following this principle – inculcating excellence in the organisation’s daily life. • Achieved industry-lowest cost of debt for INR 5,000 crore (~US$650m) in two different transactions during the covid lockdown;• Changed our key Operations & Maintenance contractors, in turn, saving significant costs and elevating service levels simultaneously;• Pioneered establishment of global best practices on road safety, achieving industry lowest fatalities of workmen.I led these operations and safety initiatives while serving as Co-Head of the business for 18 months when Safeway did not have a CEO. In my earlier role as Finance Director at Macquarie Infrastructure & Real Assets from 2008 to 2018, my responsibilities included:• working with the infrastructure investment teams on due diligence, negotiation, legal documentation of all acquisition and divestment transactions of US$3b+;• Board member of MIRA India and majority-controlled assets (toll roads and renewables) and directing their capital structure; • Financial control and tax structuring for 18+ legal entities across 4 different funds.Executive education programs and continual self-learning not only helped me expand my responsibilities at regular intervals but also helped inculcating growth mindset, directing the future course of the business, and fulfilling our responsibilities to investors, customers and employees.
