While at Black & Veatch, I have worked in both the Water Resources and Infrastructure Planning Departments within the Water Division. Much of my work has been focused on completing master planning projects and hydraulic and environmental studies. I have experience constructing and calibrating water and wastewater system hydraulic models, as well as experience using ArcGIS to perform various spatial analyses. Recent projects that I have worked on include wastewater collection system master plans, water facilities master plans, pump station siting hydraulic analyses, TMDL compliance studies, BMP designs, cost of water analyses, dam break analyses, and energy efficiency evaluations. I have experience with the following software programs: ArcGIS, InfoWorks, InfoWater, InfoSewer, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, SSOAP, SWMM5, InfoSWMM, PCSWMM, H2OMap Water, H2OMap Sewer, LSPC (WMMS), HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS

The Black & Veatch Water Leadership Internship was a specialized summer program developed to provide engineering students with real-world work experience in the engineering consulting industry, while also participating in professional development workshops and learning about the company as a whole. As an intern, I worked alongside professional engineers in the Water Resources and Infrastructure Planning Departments, gaining valuable project experience. We also had the opportunity to meet with top executives to learn about the Black & Veatch business model, as well as the company’s various departments and their specific roles. Professional development workshops were also a focus to refine our communication, presentation, time management, and project management skills. Lastly, throughout the summer, we were tasked with researching innovative sustainable solutions in the water/wastewater and energy industries. Ultimately, we presented our ideas as a new business case to a panel of Black & Veatch CEOs and top executives.

As an intern in the Global Infusion Systems group, studied the effect of wet administration sets on the air sensor performance in the company’s popular infusion pump. Wrote protocols to test and verify system requirements and supervised technicians as the tests were completed. Performed air sensor system performance verification protocol for submission to USFDA. Programmed virtual instruments to run different sequences of timed tests to check for User Interface Failures. By planning and performing notebook studies to test various air sensor calibrations, ultimately implemented change in new pump design.
