I'm a scientist-turned clinical trial professional, now Doctor of Pharmacy Candidate at the University of Alberta Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science. Previously, I leveraged my expertise in scientific research to support the launch and entire lifecycle of a clinical trial and observational research studies at the Cross Cancer Institute with Alberta Health Services. I am particularly passionate about translational research and integrating perspectives from healthcare professionals and patients at all stages of therapeutic drug development to enhance clinical outcomes for patients.     The Cross Cancer Institute is the comprehensive cancer centre with a large catchment area and a strong Clinical Trial Unit. Working with the Clinical Trial Launch Team, I analyze and review financial contracts and budgets from external pharmaceutical companies to support the launch and entire lifecycle of a clinical trial at the Cross Cancer Institute.My work involves the following: -Analysis and review of Phase I, II and III clinical trial protocols and associated medical manuals including a wide variety of solid tumor groups and hematological malignancies to draft and develop site-level internal financial budgets and documents. -Review and edit site-drafted budgets to ensure all laboratory tests diagnostic imaging, procedures, pharmacy workload, startup, closeout and study staff personnel fees are appropriately budgeted while maintaining a contingency fund. -Build and maintain strong relationships and collaborations with internal Clinical Trial Nurses and Coordinators, Laboratory and Pharmacy staff to confirm standard of care procedures, tests and financial details of planned site clinical trial activities. -Collaboration with Financial Analysts and Grant Administrators to ensure Cross Cancer Institute Site budgets were comprehensive, covered site fees and were appropriately amended when required. -Negotiated complex financial documents with external Pharmaceutical Sponsors and Clinical Research Organizations to reach a financial agreement to incorporate in the site contract Clinical Trial Master Agreement. -Mentoring and training of new clinical trial budget staff including Budget Coordinators and the Senior Financial Analyst.
