As a Mapping intern, my focused responsibilities touched on two core projects for the department - IMS (Information Management System):The IMS is an interactive web-based database system, that is utilized by all departments within BPG. The system stores maps and other related project files within appropriate quarter sections and projects across BPG’s footprint. My responsibility, in partner with another intern, was to develop a naming convention that streamlined the multitude of files for a more intuitive application. Once renamed, these files were attached to their appropriate sections via Esri’s ArcGIS Pro. Over 4500 files were renamed, organized, and attached. By adding this layer of service, multiple department’s access to this information database has become easily accessible savings thousands of dollars of wasted time looking for project data. During this project I had the opportunity to familiarize myself with different Web apps and the geodatabase, while I began to leverage ArcGISPro, a recent release of ArcGIS software.Department of Public Safety, New York:Contracting with the New York City Department of Safety, BPG Designs targeted risks posed to residence health from violations in building compliance regulation. Mobile LiDAR data was collected for 26,000 existing buildings as well as 200,000 individual assets for closer safety inspection. Utilizing Orbit software, measurements for building height and plumbnessas well as points of distress (cracked facade, chipped brick, crumbling roof, lime, wet wall, organic growth, ect) were identified. Assesing the overall condition of each building in the Manhattan and Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhoods enhanced urban sustainabiluty, community resilience and improved safety managment for the city of New York.

GreenLight Solutions is a sustainability consulting non-profit equipping students with real world problem solving experience. Students have ample opportunity to engage with valley businesses and organizations on variety of sustainability issues, in cooperation with their peers.As a consultant and co-project lead, I worked in a team to research and implement urban greening strategies on the Shaw Montessori campus. The elementary school, located in historic Garfield district of downtown Phoenix, readily adopted the plan to construct two pollinator gardens which serve as living learning labs for both the students and surrounding community. Working in partnership with a local landscape architect, school faculty, Phoenix School District, and local businesses, the GreenLight team designed and constructed 4,000 sq ft of pollinator gardens with 100+ native Sonoran trees, shrubs, cacti, and wildflowers.

A New Leaf is a non profit organization operating in partnership with MesaCAN to provide a variety of social services to low income individuals and families around the Phoenix valley. As an Individual Development Accounts (IDA) intern I was responsible for becoming familiar with the matched savings program for A New Leaf's affordable housing and education initiatives. My responsibilities included attending staff meetings, contributing to newsletters, conducting a grant writing analysis, and creating the IDA program handbook. Additionally, I researched key intervention points for improvement and suggested strategies to achieve non-profit sustainability. Overall, I was able to gain significant insight about the non-profit structure and administration.
