I worked as part of a multifunctional team with the goal of modernizing systems, networks, and policies. Our journey began with the conversion of nearly 40 physical servers to virtual servers (P2V). Additionally, we deployed around 40 new servers, including Print Servers, Monitoring and Logging Servers, and Backup Servers. Our VMware Infrastructure managed over 150 VMs, utilizing over 30 TB of storage and almost 1 TB of RAM. This environment was high-availability, replicated, and fully backed up, all built from the ground up.Among our most notable achievements were:Upgrading the gaming accounting system to Aristocrat Oasis 360.Transitioning the Hotel's reservation software from LMS to Oracle Opera 5.Updating Point of Sale (POS) Systems, upgrading from Micros 9700 to Oracle Simphony.Enhancing company software through impactful projects such as:Upgrading Active Directory, Domain Controllers, File Servers, and Print Servers.Migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 for the company's email solution.Key Achievements:Significantly improved service availability, reducing downtime from frequent occurrences to rare instances or none at all.Minimized urgency and on-call calls from a daily basis to weekly.Decreased Capital Expenditure (CapEx) by reclaiming hardware. While we obtained licenses, internal upgrades were carried out in-house without outsourcing installation or deployment.Trimmed Operating Expenses (OpEx):Halved energy and cooling consumption in the data centers.Transitioned the company from a 1:1 server ratio to 20:1 through virtualization, recycling or donating old servers.Slashed Recovery Time Objective (RTO) from one to two days to just one to four hours.Implemented the 3-2-1 Backup Rule and established replication between VMware data centers.Enhanced and streamlined logging procedures.Shifted maintenance focus from firefighting to scheduled maintenance activities.
