I was responsible for safely delivering multiple buildings and external hardscape and landscape works, which involved ~1000m2 of podium waterproofing, drainage cell installation, concreting and interlock works. Two of the buildings that I was responsible for were hotel buildings, with hotel rooms designed in the traditional Arabian Style. The works packages were divided among multiple subcontractors, and coordination was required between each of them. I developed a tracker that was then used as a template (sample attached) to follow the progress of the guest rooms in each building broken down activity wise.To achieve the external works, I utilised my planning and sequencing skills to help develop monthly, weekly, and daily plans and ensure that they are implemented on site by the subcontractors and foremen. As the individual activities were naturally start to finish, and required different subcontractors coming in subsequently, I broke down the external area in different stages, meaning no subcontractor was sitting idle, as once they finished one area, they had the next one to move to. In the early stages of the project, I was part of a productivity team set up on site. My duties included tracking and reporting daily progress and quantities achieved, and performing root cause analysis to identify any issues that affect the productivity on site in order to maximise it. I would hold weekly meetings and present the site performance to the Phase Director, Project Managers and Construction Managers, discuss key KPI concerns, ideas for improvement, and review the upcoming planned quantities, allowing a manpower forecast. Our site reached peak productivity at 136%, which resulted in substantial direct cost savings. Show less

This opportunity provided experience working on a logistically challenging site as the shopping centre was live throughout. - Main duties included setting out, levelling, creating inspection test plans, and familiarising myself with method statement and risk assessments. - Organisational skills improved significantly since I was required to keep a site diary which tracked the labour on site, all plant equipment used, and all actions carried out.- Management and supervisory skills were also tested and developed through communication and delegation of tasks to subcontractors.- To increase safety and awareness on site, implemented weekly 'work and location' plans which depicted the areas and nature of works that would be carried out on site. I have found that the best part my placement was that it increased my appetite for learning. I gained invaluable knowledge, and I am determined to acquire more. Show less
