Dr. Frances Conners' Cognition and Intellectual Disability LabContribute to a NICHD-funded study in collaboration with UC Davis, California, examining the long-term cognitive changes in teens and young adults with Down Syndrome and intellectual disability. Recruit, screen, and schedule eligible participants in the Down syndrome and intellectual disability community. Administer a series of cognitive and behavioral assessments to participants that evaluate memory, attention, executive functioning, visual and auditory processing, etc. Utilize the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales to interview the parents or caregivers of participants. Score, analyze, and input data into REDCap. Establish and sustain strong relationships with families and participants connected to the lab. Dr. Takahiro Soda’s Disparities in Diagnosis and Diagnostics in Autism Spectrum Disorder LabAnalyzed ASD genetic testing data and genetic testing demographic information. Interacted and engaged with patients/participants with ASD or ID along with co-occurring diagnoses such as ADHD, OCD, etc. Performed extensive literature reviews, wrote research papers, and developed academic posters. As a Spring 2024 project, a literature review was conducted that centered around studies that include Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) for individuals with co-occurring OCD and ASD. Developed infographics to represent qualitative data on reasons for declined genetic testing. Translated REDCap results from genetic testing for autism. Administered surveys to caregivers on attitudes and knowledge of genetic testing for ASD before vs. after their appointment as well as before vs. after an educational flyer.

Dr. Iser DeLeon’s Lab at the University of FloridaAssisted Dr. Kissel Goldman in gathering research studies for a possible future publication. Interpreted psychology studies and determined if studies should be included in the literature review related to intellectual or developmental disability and self-injurious behaviors.

Worked under the marketing leader to develop and devise detailed white papers and articles that included research and other information from autism studies. Educated and prompted professionals in various fields to participate in IBCCES training and certification through these articles. Reviewed autism studies in a variety of settings including healthcare, travel, education, and more, and compiled statistics and other information in the white papers and articles.
