Worked to increase capacity within Louisville Grows to empower individuals in low-income communities to break the cycle of poverty through participation in community gardens, orchards, and urban forestry programs. Building community outreach tools to engage and recruit at-risk youth and adults for training programs and to identify and meet neighborhood needs, such as increasing the urban tree canopy to eliminate heat island effect, providing access to fresh and local fruit and vegetables through community orchards and gardens and managing monthly programs and classes focusing on environmental education and healthy living. Focus on environmental stewardship and healthy futures programs to create capacity in the communities with whom we work so that we can grow together.

As part of the Kentucky Scholar Intern Program, the internship (3 months) is designed to meet the needs of the most under-resourced communities in eastern Kentucky by pairing students with a nonprofit agency. Pine Mountain Settlement School (PMSS) has been serving the communities of Harlan County and beyond through education and leadership for over 100 years. Its flagship program integrates placed-based environmental education with traditional Appalachian arts and crafts. As an intern, I directly work with the staff to support PMSS's mission as well as provide direct environmental programming to students K-12 students visiting the school.

Assisted and supported students in the Eco Rep program with their involvement in Student Hall Government and sustainability related educational outreach activities on campus.
