I am a current Junior in the Social Work program at Liberty University. In addition to this, I am completing a minor in Global Studies where I have been trained in Cultural Intelligence (CQ). I am passionate about working with vulnerable populations and creating opportunities for people to receive the services they need to thrive. I have had opportunities to do this through volunteer work such as caring for the children of mothers in a residential recovery program operated by The Family Effect. There I was able to organize church groups to serve meals, as well as speak at multiple events about the current needs of the organization. In addition to this, I was able to create a plan, organize and head up a fundraising event where I partnered with multiple local organizations to refurbish the playroom for the mothers and children in the program. I was also given the opportunity throughout high school to work with adults with special needs through volunteer work with the Carolina Miracle League. This taught me how to advocate for the needs of vulnerable populations and how to work with people to support and encourage them in reaching their goals. I am excited to implement the skills learned through these endeavors in my future career as a licensed Social Worker, and hope to glorify God in all that I do.
